The Colorado Rockies are one of the most promising teams in the MLB, and their mascot Dinger is one of the most beloved characters in the state. But, Dinger’s cheerful demeanor was interrupted Monday night by a startling attack from a man who tackled the mascot at the Rockies game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Denver police have now identified and cited Kenneth Sonley, 45, for assault and disturbing the peace after issuing a bulletin through Metro Denver Crime Stoppers. Sonley turned himself in to the police and is scheduled to appear in court on May 12. The Rockies organization expressed their disappointment and disapproval of the incident on Twitter. This is an unfortunate example of how a fan’s drunk behavior and ignorance can ruin a sports game. We hope that this kind of disruptive behavior will not be tolerated in future games.
