Actress Lauren London recently commemorated the fourth anniversary of her partner Nipsey Hussle’s untimely death, with a heartfelt Instagram post. Sharing a series of images of the late rapper and some wise words, London expressed the pain and struggle she’s had to bear since losing the love of her life to gun violence in 2019.
London’s post included a quote from Baháʼí Sacred Writings, beautifully describing how the human spirit transcends physical death as it continues to exist eternally. In the post, she wrote of holding her breath all through March as she remembers the pain and memories of the day Hussle passed on. Losing Hussle changed her life’s trajectory permanently, and she has been doing her best to honor his work through activism and philanthropy.
Nipsey Hussle, at the time of his death, was working on a foundation to help improve his LA neighborhood, and he had also reached out with the LAPD on ways of ending gang violence in the city. Hussle’s work as a rapper and philanthropist left a lasting impact on those who knew him, and he had plans of doing much more for his community before his tragic death.
The two were together from 2013 until Hussle’s death in 2019 and welcomed their son, Kross, into the world. London has dealt with depression since Hussle’s passing, but she’s been taking strides, working to push forward and focus on her acting career.
Nipsey’s killer, Eric Holder Jr, was found guilty of the murder in July 2021 and was sentenced to at least 60 years in prison. Hussle’s legacy continues to inspire many, and he left behind a lot of goodwill. Lauren’s post is a reminder that love and those we have lost can continue to exist beyond the physical world, and the pain of loss can turn into a drive to honor those we have lost, like Lauren London is doing for Nipsey Hussle.
