Lady Gaga was spotted on the set of the upcoming “Joker” sequel in Manhattan’s City Hall for the first time in her character, Harley Quinn. The 36-year-old celebrity was dressed in a crimson blazer with tulle sleeves, a diamond-patterned corset top, and a black leather miniskirt with diamond-patterned sheer black stockings. Her blonde hair was slicked back, and she had black harlequin eye makeup, bright red lipstick, and contour blush. Hundreds of extras surrounded Gaga as she walked up the City Hall’s steps to film scenes along with Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role.
“Joker: Folie à Deux” is Todd Phillips’ follow-up to his 2019 original movie “Joker,” which narrated the story of the classic DC villain. The original movie was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, and Joaquin Phoenix won the best actor Oscar for his portrayal of the joker. The sequel features Zazie Beetz as Sophie Dumond, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Harry Lawtey, and others, and producers have described it as a musical. While Gaga’s role has not been officially confirmed, it is widely speculated that she will play Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn, a psychiatrist who falls in love with the joker.
In-house chatter hints at the exciting potential of this exciting and fresh collaboration. It is great to see Gaga emerge in another high-profile project since her Academy Award-nominated turn of 2018’s “A Star is Born.” Gaga is no newcomer to the screen, and her acting proclivity has always come through. Margot Robbie, who played Harley Quinn in the past, expressed her excitement about Gaga’s portrayal of the character, stating that it was all she could’ve hoped for as the character would be handed over from actor to actor. Let’s see what Lady Gaga has to offer globally with her new project “Joker: Folie à Deux,” releasing in October 2024.
