The Detroit Lions, with two first-round picks at No. 6 and No. 18, have the opportunity to make some crucial decisions in the 2023 NFL Draft. After a surprising 9-8 season, they are in a good position to take their already talented roster to the next level.

One option for the Lions is to trade down from the No. 6 pick with the Falcons, acquiring the No. 8 pick in exchange, along with a fourth-round pick. With this trade, the Lions could consider filling a need at cornerback or offensive lineman.

On the other hand, the Lions could choose to trade up from the No. 6 pick with the Cardinals, potentially securing edge rusher Will Anderson at No. 3 overall. This trade would require the Lions to give up their No. 81 and No. 183 picks, or potentially their No. 55 pick as well.

Another possible trade for the Lions is to trade down from the No. 6 pick with the Titans, potentially allowing the Titans to secure one of the top quarterbacks in the draft. This trade would give the Lions two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and two third-round picks to start the draft, providing plenty of flexibility to maneuver around the draft board.

Lastly, the Lions could trade away their No. 18 pick to the Dolphins in exchange for a 2024 first-round pick, potentially giving them two first-round picks in the future. While this is a risky move, it could pay off in the long run if the Dolphins have a poor season and the Lions end up with a higher pick.

Overall, the Lions have many options to consider in the 2023 NFL Draft. With two first-round picks and multiple other high-round picks, they have the opportunity to improve their roster and compete in the NFC North. General manager Brad Holmes will have to decide which trades are worth making, but one thing is certain – the Lions have a golden opportunity to take advantage of their draft position and set themselves up for success in the future.
