In a pivotal Western Conference match-up, the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 123-111 on Friday night. Anthony Davis dominated the game with 38 points and 17 rebounds, 17 of which came in a critical fourth-quarter run. LeBron James also contributed with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while D’Angelo Russell had 12 points and 10 assists against his former team. The Lakers have won five of their last six games, moving them into the seventh place in the crowded Western Conference playoff race.

Davis has been the key force for the Lakers, leading the charge with his aggressive play and pressurizing the paint and the rim. Lakers coach Darvin Ham lauded Davis’ contributions to the team, stating that his performance has been pivotal to their recent success. James also praised Davis for carrying the team on his back and bringing them home.

In the loss against the Lakers, Karl-Anthony Towns scored 23 points for the Timberwolves, and Mike Conley had 25 points on 7-for-11 shooting with seven assists. The Timberwolves tumbled to ninth place and now sit one game behind Golden State in the race to avoid the play-in tournament.

The Lakers have been making huge climbs in recent games and are hungry to make not only the playoffs but also make some noise. They have recently improved their play, winning nine of their last thirteen games since losing at home to the Timberwolves on March 3.
